Edmonton, May 14, 2009 (updated 5.2.10)
The Triple Flip Wild Rose Organizing Committee will give out PRIZE MONEY FOR COACHES !
Last year, the Organizing Committee gave away $ 3,500 in prize money and over $ 500 in gift certificates to the All-Around winners in each category.
In 2010, we are aiming at giving away close to $ 8,500.00 in prize money. This will set-up the two main editions of the Triple Flip Wild Rose in 2011 and 2012, where the prize money will be even higher.
In 2010, the Triple Flip Wild Rose Organizing Committee will not only be doubling the prize money offered to athletes, it will also give out prize money to their coaches !
" It takes coaches to develop athletes, yet only athletes get recognized with any form of reward for their performances at high level meets. Well, this is about to change. The Wild Rose will be giving out prize money to their coaches. The money will go to the athlete's club; The club will have to determine to whom the money goes, but the Wild Rose Organizing Committee wants the money to go to the athlete's personal coaches." said Michel Arsenault after the 2009 Wild Rose de-briefing meeting, held in Edmonton on May 9th, 2009.
"Last year, we hosted close to 400 athletes and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.
Our Organizing Committee is pumped about building on its 2009 success. Our Strategic Plan is already taking shape and, as planned, we declared a large financial surplus, which has been deferred to the 2010 event. This will allow us to make the event bigger and better." explained Michel.
In 2009, the Wild Rose was not host to any foreign National Teams due mostly to date conflicts with European Championships and the American Classic, but in 2010, the dates look really good to attract teams from Europe, Asia and the US. In fact, National teams from CHINA and CANADA have confirmed their entry into the 2010 Triple Flip Wild Rose.
"Of course, the Strategic Plan calls for top-level editions of the event in 2011 and 2012, as Canada prepares for the 2011 World Championships (Olympic qualifier) and the 2012 London Olympic Games. So far, our Committee has surpassed its 2009 goals and is sitting in excellent financial shape. We're looking forward to a great 2010 edition of the event." said Michel.

The Triple Flip Wild Rose moves to a new venue !
After five wonderful editions of the Wild Rose International Invitational at beautiful Grant MacEwan facility in downtown Edmonton, the Organizing Committee has made the decision to move the event to a larger facility, the brand-new Edmonton Expo Centre @ Northlands !
The Wild Rose is growing and it needs more space ! Albertans will remember this facility because that's where the 2006 Alberta Provincial Championships and Western Canadian Championships were hosted.
As for all previous Wild Rose Invitationals, the meet will feature a double equipment set-up. The 2010 Triple Flip Wild Rose Organizing Committee is excited to host the event at the Edmonton Expo Centre, as it builds up to 2012.

Edmonton, March 27, 2009
STRATEGIC PLAN
The Wild Rose Association is proud to unveil its 2009-2012 Strategic Plan:
In order to achieve financial viability and sustainability, any surplus arising from the 2009 and 2010 Wild Rose International Invitationals will be deferred to the 2011 and 2012 editions of the event, in order to maximize the profile of the event.
In other words, the 2009 Wild Rose will serve as a start to a build-up towards the 2011 and 2012 editions of the event, as Canada prepares its teams for the 2011 World Championships (Olympic qualifier) and for the 2012 Olympic Games.
The need to have financial viability is paramount to developing a top-notch World-class event (international team expenses and prize money) and consequently, each event will constitute a building block towards the 2012 London Olympic Games.
As in the past, The Wild Rose International Invitational Association is entirely committed to organizing the highest of quality event in 2009.

Edmonton, November 1, 2008 (updated 7.2.10)
Thoughts and thanks....
An event the size of the Wild Rose requires a lot of preparation and dedication on the part of the Organizing Committee.
Hello- My name is Michel Arsenault and I am the Assistant Meet Director for the Wild Rose International Invitational. I am also the Vice-President of the Wild Rose Gymnastics Invitational Association. I am very excited at the idea of being part of yet another Wild Rose.
2010 will be the sixth edition of the event and it promises to be quite exciting. As many of you know, the Wild Rose is near and dear to my heart. Although it shortens my life a little bit every time I work on it, the rewards far outweigh the amount of work...
I came up with the idea for this meet late in 1994, just as my wife Valérie and I had moved to Edmonton from our native Montréal. When we moved to Western Canada in early 1994, it became rapidly obvious that a large gymnastics competition devoted to attracting some of the world's best female gymnasts was lacking from the calendar.
My thought was that young gymnasts and their coaches needed to be inspired and needed to be exposed to a high level of gymnastics and that through this exposure, perhaps gymnastics in Alberta and Western Canada (and Canada for that matter) would grow. We have seen many Canadian gymnasts such as Kate Richardson and Kylie Stone emerge as international stars in part due to the Wild Rose. I have taken the time to look back at past Wild Rose rosters and it is truly amazing to read the names of so many former gymnasts who now are coaches, judges and sport officials !
The Wild Rose is needed in Western Canada because it provides young female gymnasts of ALL LEVELS with an opportunity to rub shoulders with some of the best gymnasts in the world. If you visit the HISTORY page on this website, you'll come across names such as: Viktoria Karpenko, Simona Amanar, Svetlana Boginskaya, Elena Zamolodchikova, Kylie Stone, Kate Richardson, Kristin Klarenbach and Miranda Meyer and many many others. In 2002, Valérie and I started our own club (Champions Gymnastics) and after spending close to seven years developing our business, it soon became obvious to both of us that the absence of the Wild Rose was leaving a large gap in the competition calendar.
In early 2008, a small group of gymnastics enthusiasts decided to revive the event and build it up to be a major event on the calendar, with a major focus on the 2011 and 2012 editions of the event. I am excited and also very grateful to have the opportunity to be involved in this event again. For that, I have many people to thank.
First of all, and in all honesty, I want to thank the people at the Ortona Gymnastics Club (1994-2002) for believing in my idea and for getting behind it from the start. A lot of water has passed under the bridge since our departure from Ortona in June 2002 and as I look back on what we accomplished there, I am amazed.
I can't go into naming all the names because the list would be too long, but if any of you are reading this, I just want to say "thanks". You had a lot of guts and the Wild Rose's success was YOUR success. I had the idea, but like any good idea, it needed support and people to make it happen. In 2009, the challenge has been superbly handled by an entirely new crew of volunteers, expertly managed by Mrs Aimee O'Neill, the current Wild Rose Meet Director. Aimee has assembled an awesome group of volunteers and sub-committee coordinators. At the 2009 Wild Rose, one couldn't tell that the meet had been on a seven-year hiatus ! Great job to all our volunteers !
Lastly, I want to thank my beautiful wife Valérie for supporting my "dreams of grandeur" and for enduring the stress that this work has imposed on our lives. Through thick and thin, she has been my partner (both in life and in business), my inspiration and more importantly, my best friend. Lastly, I want to thank all of you out there who have attended the Wild Rose in the past. The event became what it is because of YOU.
I am excited at the upcoming edition of the Wild Rose and I hope that you will join us in Edmonton for yet another celebration of the greatest sport on earth....gymnastics !
